Meditations On The Voice Of Jesus

Spirit School

God is love and Jesus is love. When we connect with the voice of Jesus, he arrests our heart and woos us into the presence and peace of God. He is always present with us but it is when we choose to commune and purposefully connect with him, we hear his voice in spirit.

Here are some good reminders for meditation on the voice of Jesus, and are good pointers when discerning his voice (these are adaptations from 1 Corinthians 13).

The voice of Jesus is patient (he patiently waits for us and does not rush us)

The voice of Jesus is kind (he loves us so much and he is tender towards us)

The voice of Jesus is not jealous (he does not provoke us to envy)

The voice of Jesus is not boastful (he will not make us feel small or insignificant)

The voice of Jesus is not proud (he will celebrate even our smallest victories)

The voice of Jesus is not rude (he is respectful)

The voice of Jesus is not self seeking (he looks out for our best)

The voice of Jesus is not easily angered (he is patient and forgives our sin)

The voice of Jesus will not bring a record of our wrongs (focussed on forward progression in the ways of God)

The voice of Jesus does not bring evil or delight in evil (he is 100% good and everything he brings to us is perfect)

The voice of Jesus rejoices with the truth (the truth sets us free, the voice of Jesus brings us freedom)

The voice of Jesus protects (we are safe with Jesus)

The voice of Jesus is trustworthy (we can trust Jesus with our hearts)

The voice of Jesus brings hope (we have a future hope with Jesus, there is no despair)

The voice of Jesus perseveres with all patience (we can go back over things again and again and again until we finally get it)

The voice of Jesus never fails (he is continually communing with us)
