In The Presence Of Love

Spirit School

Personal Testimony

Once afternoon I was laying on my sofa and reaching out to God in my heart. I wanted to know more of his love and I knew love was a spirit. While I was praying I saw, with my eyes open, a fire appearing before me, the flames in the fire were all of various different colours, reds, oranges, whites and yellows. In the midst of the flames stood one who looked like a human and they had no physical body.

As the spirit came closer, the flames began to lick around my body and a warmth filled my lungs. I felt calm inside and full of joy toward God. I asked God what I saw before my eyes and a voice said “this is ahava, my love for you”.

I asked God if I could have ahava in her fullness, deep in my heart, by the voice said “if all my love were to fill you right now, you would be consumed with a passion for the world that you could not contain. It drove me to death but the same love could not be conquered by death, for my love is stronger than death!”

God is love. When we practice the presence of God, we also practice the presence of love.

Love, or ‘Ahava’ as the hebrew word (אהבה) is pronounced, is a spirit. Her nature is nurturing, compassionate, gentle, kind and yet, ahava is all consuming.

As we practice the presence of God, his seven spirits manifest in the spirit realm around us, enveloping and pouring out of our spirit. Our hearts and minds blend into the all encompassing love of Jesus Christ, our motives conform to God’s motives as we open to his transforming presence. Even our dreams and desires strengthen as they align with God’s desires.

Jesus described the spirit of God within us as a well of water that bubbles up to overflowing. As we drink on Jesus Christ (by practicing the presence of God), we drink of his spirit (open our hearts to his presence and love). As our hearts are opened and soften before God, our capacity of receiving God’s love into all areas of our heart and mind. When we saturate with the spirit of God, our love for those around us also increases for God’s heart is to reach all people.

As we embark on our journey of discovering the mysteries of God with Jesus, we need to keep the love of God at the center of all things. When our motivation is to discover more of the love of God, our spirit is drawn deeper into ‘Ahava’, his love.

On the foundation of love and sensitivity to the spirit of God, who dwells both in the heavenly realms and our hearts, we will be equipped for some of the greater works that Jesus promised we would do (John 14:12). As we practice God’s presence, we may find ourselves caught up in spiritual experiences, perceiving the heavenly realms under the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit, and even being taken in spirit to minister to someone that we otherwise could not reach, on Earth!

All things are possible in Christ, things beyond our wildest imagination (Ephesians 3:20).

As this happens, it would not be unusual to come across angels, archangels, to walk with Jesus Christ in the heavenly realms, and enter discourse with angels. Whether we are in spirit or body when these experiences happen, it does not matter, for all are works of the spirit of God, carried by his great passionate love toward all humanity.
